Death of a retired Police Officer : Sgt 1259 Tom Baxter

Tom BaxterIt is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : Sgt 1259 Tom Baxter, who died on the 23rd October 2013, aged 83 years.

Mr Baxter does not leave a widow but leaves a son Ian and a daughter Pam.

Mr Baxter joined Durham Constabulary in 1955 before retiring in 1985, having previously served at Chester le Street, Blaydon, Whickham, Darlington, Durham, Meadowfield and Durham City as Crime Prevention Sgt.

Tom was Vice Chairman of Durham Branch NARPO & was heavily involved in County rugby.

The funeral service is to be held on Monday 4th November at St. Mary's Magdalene Church in Belmont at 2pm. The service is not private.

Donations in lieu of flowers are requested by the family, details of this will be circulated in due course.

Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

September CPI released at 2.7%

The Office of National Statistics have on the 15th October released the Consumer Price Index for September as 2.7%, this is unchanged from August.

Police Pensions as a consequence will increase by 2.7% in April 2014.

The Retail Price Index stood at 3.2% for the same period.

Death of a retired Police Officer : Sgt Thomas Corfield

It is with regret that we have to announce the death a retired Police Officer : Sgt Thomas Corfield who died on Sunday, 13th October 2013 aged 88 years.
Mr Corfield began his service with Durham Constabulary, serving at Ferryhill, Billy Row Crook, Annfield Plain and Bishop Auckland before transferring to Northumbria police and retiring from Whickham.

Death of a retired Police Officer : PC John (Bob) Morris

It is with regret that we announce the  death of a retired Police Officer : PC ( Bob) Morris, aged 64 years who died suddenly on Monday, 30th September, 2013. Bob served mainly in the Darlington area.
