It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : PC 1177 Albert John Franks, who died on the 18th June 2017. He was aged 81 years.
Mr Franks joined Durham Constabulary on the 24th January 1966, he served at HQ Training, Jarrow, Chester le street, he was initially in uniform before joining CID in 1974 and then from 1986 he joined HQ crime support unit. He retired from Durham Town section on the 25th June 1987.
He does not leave a widow but leaves a daughter Glenda.
The funeral service will be taking place on the 29th June 2017 at 11.15am at Saint John's Church, Birtley, which will then be followed by the cremation service at 12pm at Birtley Crematorium. This will then be followed by refreshments at Washington Cricket Club. The funeral service is not private.
Donations are requested in lieu of flowers to the Bobby Robson Foundation.
