It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : Sgt 1259 Tom Baxter, who died on the 23rd October 2013, aged 83 years.
Mr Baxter does not leave a widow but leaves a son Ian and a daughter Pam.
Mr Baxter joined Durham Constabulary in 1955 before retiring in 1985, having previously served at Chester le Street, Blaydon, Whickham, Darlington, Durham, Meadowfield and Durham City as Crime Prevention Sgt.
Tom was Vice Chairman of Durham Branch NARPO & was heavily involved in County rugby.
The funeral service is to be held on Monday 4th November at St. Mary's Magdalene Church in Belmont at 2pm. The service is not private.
Donations in lieu of flowers are requested by the family, details of this will be circulated in due course.
