Joe joined Durham County Constabulary on 23rd November 1959. He rose through the ranks, being promoted to Sergeant on 5th August 1974, Inspector on 3rd September 1979 and Chief Inspector on 19th March 1984. He retired on 16th May 1993, after 33½ years’ service.
Joe is survived by wife Jean, daughter Lesley, son Steven, grandchildren Amy and Andrew and great grandchildren Emily, Josh, Lily and Isla.
A funeral service is to be held at 2.30pm Wednesday 3rd June 2026 at Durham Crematorium, South Road, Durham DH1 3TQ
