September CPI Published

The ONS have now published the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2020 and this stands at 0.5%.

As a result, Police Pensions will increase by 0.5% as of 1st April 2021.

Death of a retired Police Officer : Supt. 94 Raymond Brammer

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer :  Supt. 94 Raymond Brammer who died on 13th October aged 89yrs.
Raymond commenced his Police career in May 1956 with Lincoln Police where he worked until he joined Sunderland Borough Police in 1960.
Raymond’s career saw him working in various divisions and after the amalgamation in 1974 he remained in Durham and was promoted to Sgt,  serving as an Instructor at Harperley Hall before being transferred after eighteen months to the  District Training Centre at Newby Wiske.
After two years he returned to Durham as a Section Sgt. On promotion to Inspector he was posted to Peterlee. His next move was into HQ Training where he was promoted to Ch Insp and returned once again to Peterlee/Seaham.
Promotion to Supt. followed with a move to Darlington from where he retired in February 1985.
Raymond’s beloved wife Anne also worked for the Force as staff for 20 years in the old Police HQ prior to her retirement in 1990. They were married for 65 years.
The funeral service will be taking place on Thursday 22nd October,1130am at St Johns Church in Seaham.
Due to the current restrictions numbers are limited in the church but those who wish to pay their respects are welcome to stand outside as long as the social distancing guidelines are met.

Death of a retired Police Officer : PC 1378 George Michael (Mick) Keen

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : PC 1378 George Michael (Mick) Keen, who died on the 26th September 2020 aged 82 years.

Mick joined Durham Constabulary on the 1st April 1962 in HQ Training. He was then posted to Stockton for 6 months before moving to Darlington in January 1963. 

From February 1965 to May 1984 he covered the detatched beat at Middleton St George and then to Darlington, working in Enquiry/Comms and as a Jailer.

He retired from the Force on 29th June 1998. 

Mick was the dearly loved husband of the late June, much loved Dad of Carol and the late Raymond, dear father-in-law of Charlotte and loving grandad of Megan.

Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested to St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.

A service will take place at Darlington Crematorium on Thursday 8th October 2020 at 13:45.

Due to Covid-19, the number of people able to attend the service is restricted to 30.

If you would like to pay your respects you are invited to stand outside of the crematorium. Please adhere to social distancing restrictions.

Any condolence cards are welcome and will be distributed to the family via Occupational Health at Headquarters (Please write on the envelope FAO The family of Mick or George Keen).

Death of a retired Police Officer : PC1762 William Cuthbertson Maltman

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : PC1762 William Cuthbertson Maltman. William died on the 15th September 2020 aged 86 years.

William served in the Royal Military Police and then moved to work in Sunderland.

He started with Durham Constabulary on the 15th August 1955 and served on Mounted Branch at Harperley Hall for many years prior to his retirement on 23rd November 1980. 

He leaves two sons, Craig and Trevor.

Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.

Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested to Weardale Community Hospital.
