“An Afternoon of Merriment ”: Seaham and Peterlee Police Reunion

It’s almost summertime, time to dust off the cobwebs, get the glad rags on and start opening the Pimms! Well, maybe not Pimms, this is Seaham after all.

But we are delighted to announce another get together for retired Police Officers, Support Staff and partners.

It will take place upstairs at The Marlborough, Charles Street, Seaham commencing at 3.00pm on Saturday, 10th June,2023.

This is an open invitation to all who served, worked or covered Seaham and Peterlee Sub-Divisions.

Death of Retired Police Officer’s Wife: Doreen Quickmire

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Doreen Quickmire of Bishop Auckland, who died on Sunday 2nd April 2023, aged 77 years.  

Doreen was the wife of retired Police Constable 667 Douglas Quickmire who served with Durham Constabulary’s Dog Section between 1972 and 1979 and latterly in the Town Office at Crook Police Station, before retiring in 1993.

Doreen is survived by husband Douglas, son Graeme and his wife Susan, daughter Sharon and her husband Andrew, grandchildren Dean, Beckie, Mathew and Katie and great granddaughter Isabella.

A funeral service is to be held at 11.30am Thursday 20th April 2023 at Wear Valley Crematorium, Coundon, Bishop Auckland DL14 8PE.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu to James Cook Neuro Ward 24.

Following the service all are invited to join the family for refreshments at Bishop Auckland Hospital Social Club, 32 Escomb Road, Bishop Auckland DL14 6TZ.

Our thoughts are with Douglas and Doreen’s family and friends at this sad time.
