A sad loss. Gary was a true gentleman and through the IPA was a great ambassador for Durham. So pleased that we got the chance to speak to him at the recent Garden Party at HQ.

I'm so very sorry to hear this awful news. I have known Gary since I joined as a Cadet in 1963and our paths crossed many times, on traffic, the SIS and after I returned from Hong Kong at Newton Aycliffe. I remember many super evenings at the Gretna Green Wedding Inn. When I became involved in aid work Gary kept me informed of goings on in IPA and OASIS (ex-SIS Assn). Gary was always the same lovely man and I will remember him with great fondness. My sincere condolences to Madge and family – Gordon Bacon

I wish to express my great sadness at the news of Garys death. He was
a first class colleague, we worked together quite a bit over the years
with the S.I.S. and Drugs Branch. He was a true gentleman and he will
be remembered always for his tireless work over many years with the I.P.
A. and S.I.S and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My
deepest sympathy goes to his wife Madge and his family.

Always a Gentleman, smart, sincere, patient, and great company to be with. he took me under his wing when I replaced him as IPA No 3 Region Secretary and taught me so much. I could never match this man's tact and diplomacy of course and very few could. He deserved much much, longer with us...

I have known Gary for 40 odd years. We had some happy times , especially for the three years we worked together when he was the IPA Durham Branch Chairman and I was the treasurer. My heart goes out to Madge, Anthony and Julie. Gary will be sadly missed by all who knew him. RIP.

I only met Gary a few times as a young member of Merseyside South Branch at No 3 Regional & National meetings and found him to be very welcoming, friendly and amusing and I just loved that accent!! I met up briefly with him again many years later, at the Belfast NCM, now being on the Wales Regional Committee. He only seemed to have a little more grey hair..havnt we all!! A sad loss, and as Andy Green said, great company and always a gentleman. Condolences to the family x

Just learnt of this dreadful news. My deepest sympathies to gary's family. I worked with Gary when at police HQ and continued to do so after I left to set up my own business many years ago.
You'll be remembered Gary.
