The car looks very much like a Morris 8 Series E. These were produced from 1938 to 1948 so could have been still in use in the '50s. However, the headlights on this one are behind "windcheating covers" and these were only on the first production models. Was Durham County Constabulary so hard up that they were running a pre-war car?
